Words? Who needs to know the right words to sing?
Doughie likes to sing in the car. Every ride, she puts on her headphones and sings to the movie "Happy Feet". Over and over we have heard the same songs...."Somebody to Love" by Queen, "I Wish" by Stevie Wonder and, lastly "Boogie Wonderland".
Unfortunately, my daughter doesn't always hear the lyrics correctly, and starts making up her own--like we all do. I have a brother who thought Metallica's song, "Sad but True" was "Sonic Youth". I have a sister who thought the words to the catchy Brian Setzer song, "Jump Jive An Wail" was "Drunk drivin' then you wail...". Understandably, she didn't understand why everyone loved that song.
So, to add one more to the list, my daughter sings "Boogie Wonderland" as "Booger Wonderlaaaaaannn!" Which to her and Sassy, is a probably a paradise.....
Sorry, one more about boogers.
Have you ever got the lyrics to a song wrong? Please share.

Actually, it was "Drunk drive and then you wail." Just slightly different. And yes, I did have trouble understanding its popularity.
There are many songs whose lyrics have caused me confusion. Thanks to the internet I have looked up a lot of them to find out what the heck was going on.
One such song is "Blinded By the Light," an old classic that has a sound that sounds like (sorry about this) "revved up like a douche, another runner in the night." ICK! I looked it up and it is actually "revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night." Still doesn't make sense but it isn't nearly so disgusting anymore. :oD
Also there is "Tubthumping" by Chumbawumba. The angelic voice of the soprano sounds like she is singing "Kissing the night away." Oh no, it is actually "Pissing the night away." Look it up. I have never liked that song since then, even though it is very catchy.
Well, I could go on and on, but my students await.
Oh my! DellP...I laughed until I cried on the "revved up like douche" line......I am still laughing...that is terrible! I can understand why you didn't like the song! :D
We were listening to the radio the other day and the song "Poker Face" came on and Abby asked why they were singing about a booger face. I like to think she is singing about having a booger face!
Funny you should mention this. Our sacrament speaker told a few in his talk.. "I am a child of God and he has sent me here, has given me an earthly home with parents, kind of weird."
@DellP: I was further off than you... I thought it went, "wrapped up like a douche in the middle of the night!"
I think I remember Jr. singing "Sad Patrol!" to that Metallica song. :D
In Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix, I always hear, "Excuse me, while I kiss this guy!" instead of "Excuse me, while I kiss the sky!"
Elton John's Crocodile Rock sounds like (forgive me Mom), "Suzie wore her dress ass-tight!" instead of "Suzie wore her dresses tight!"
In Beck's "girl", I always thought he was singing, "Hey, my sun-eyed girl!" but he is singing, "Hey, my cyanide girl!"
:D
Ok....I admit that I have a song that I slaughter on a regular basis. It is "Michelle" by the Beatles. The original line is: "Michelle, ma belle Sont des mots qui vont tres bein ensemble Tres bien ensemble"
I like to sing it: "Michelle, ma belle Someday monkey won't play piano somble play piano somble.."
I challenge you to listen to it and hear it differently! That is what is sounds like baby!
